    Summary

The Town and the Kin, an Odongh had once whispered, were sewn together wrong. The plague had torn those old connections apart, and it was left to Artemy Burakh to suture the severed halves back together in a better way. Blood could, and would, flow through them as one common body. And it would, and must, start with solidarity.

This, too, could be its own form of utopia.

In which Artemy unionises the Termitary workers, organises a strike, and finds a new way to unite the Town.

    Summary

Their mouth forms a small 'o', a soft noise escaping them. "Oh. We kidnapped you?"

For several moments, he is at a loss for words. He almost wants to laugh. Such a situation seems utterly beyond the pale. Some figment of a bizarre, fever-induced dream, distant from any known or lived reality. But the fog of his mind and leaden state of his limbs feel far too real to be constrained to any hypnagogic fantasies.

When his snakes gaze upon the blurry lines of this mongrel's face, there is not an iota of shame to be found. It is as though the severity of their words has entirely failed to occur to them.

    "Kidnapped." He echoes.

    They blink. "Uh. Yeah."

    Of all the humiliating possibilities—this?

To bask in the beauty of life and ignore what horrors linger. Then he meets Geralt and things become complicated.

    “They don’t exist.”

“Pardon?” The bard’s brown hair flops as he tilts his head.

Geralt bravely doesn’t sigh again. “The monsters in your songs. They don’t exist.”

For some reason that gets him a grin, “How do you know?”

    Geralt stares at him.

    “I’m a Witcher.”

The bard laughs, “So just because you’ve never seen them that means they don’t exist?”

    “Yes.” Geralt says flatly.

“Agree to disagree.” The man says flippantly, “But I would love to hear more about the monsters you’ve fought.”

“No.” Geralt takes a drink desperately and finds he is almost at the bottom of his tankard. He contemplates whether it’s worth the coin for another. Probably not.
