This was a submission for the LiveJournal VD_Kink prompt a few years ago. The prompt was: Elena has to pose as Katherine (for whatever reason). Elijah, however, quickly figures out she's not Katherine and decides to see how far she'll go with the act. Whether Elena eventually realizes that he knows or not is up to you.

Summary
Maomao is given as a concubine to the Moon Prince in an attempt to control Lakan. Jinshi is against the idea of trapping a young woman in the rear palace for her father’s poor attitude and tries his best to accommodate her as both the palace manager and as the Moon Prince. But as time drags on, he falls in love with his odd concubine and his double life poses many issues.
Maomao never expected to be part of palace life and finds it rather difficult to adapt to. That being said, she loves the new access to overflowing ingredients the palace offers, especially the extremely rare ones the Moon Prince has taken to giving her as presents. If only the meddlesome eunuch would leave her alone, he’s making things far too complicated for her liking.
(Mostly follows canon, but with Maomao as the Imperial Brother’s concubine)

Maomao had meticulously crafted a selection of aphrodisiacs for the illustrious Empress Gyokuyou, unaware that Jinshi would seize the opportunity to pilfer some while taking a leisurely stroll to soothe his troubled mind, driven to the brink by her antics. The door to her chamber was slightly ajar, which compelled him to enter, only to discover she had departed for a bath. Initially, he believed these concoctions to be innocuous, yet as evening fell, he found himself at her threshold, yearning for her presence, her caress.
As Maomao roused from her slumber, she found a pair of strong arms embracing her, a warm liquid oozing from between her legs, and the chaos of garments scattered haphazardly throughout the room. She vowed to make him pay for it. But could she really? She consented, after all. And all actions have consequences, yet even with a mind as intellectual as hers, love and lust blinded it.
But how could a mere handful of stimulants — intended for another — devoid of Maomao’s approval for intimacy — and Jinshi’s intoxicated state intertwine their destinies so profoundly?
