McCoy gaped at him. His brain stalled out attempting to process the sheer ridiculousness of the words that had just been uttered. Still, the Vulcan's face remained frustratingly schooled, as if this were just a normal thing to say to someone.
"You want me to marry you," he said numbly. "I'm a human, you're a Vulcan, we don't know each other, and on top of that, our peoples are at war... and you want me to marry you?"
The Vulcan tilted his head in a manner reminiscent of a teacher being forced to interact with their least favorite student due to the fact that they had a bad habit of frequently asking stupid questions.
"As I said, bonding is not exactly the equivalent of marriage. To Vulcans, it is far deeper and more sacred."

In the midst of a war between Vulcan and the UFP, Leonard McCoy is kidnapped by one of their mysterious Vulcan enemies, Spock, for a reason he refuses at first to fully explain. Little does McCoy know, the strange request Spock makes of him is to save McCoy’s life and their future together.
