Summary
Still reeling from their father’s death, Sam and Dean take a case at an abandoned ski lodge in the mountains. The locals think the lodge is haunted. The Winchesters expect to find a ghost, but they don’t expect the snowstorm that hits shortly after they arrive, nor the way the case raises questions about their relationship. This story takes place about a week after the events of S2 Ep5, “Simon Said.”

While the Winchesters are dealing with Chuck and his attempts to destroy the worlds he has created, a portal from another world opens. Instead of the fancy Sam and Dean from 15x13, an AU Sam arrives in the bunker from a world where he had to kill his Dean while he was possessed by Lucifer wearing the white suit, the vision Sam had in 15x5. Other-Sam is broken and devastated. There is no world to send him back to, and they can’t very well send him off on his own, so he stays with the Winchesters, who must help him deal with his particular brand of inner Hell.

Summary
The Christmas after Sam leaves for Stanford, Dean can’t bear the loneliness. He decides to check in on Sam, more than once, without letting him know. He discovers that Sam is doing just fine without him, thank you very much. But when he tries to leave town, he runs into Sam at a dive bar.
Inspired by this prompt: (Dean POV) It's holiday season and Dean visits Stanford, not really expecting Sam to be doing this well without him, much less being the posterboy of the whole university (e.g. sport star, joining a band, etc) and it doesn't help that while everyone is head-over-heels for his baby brother, Sammy only has his eyes on him.

Summary
In an alternate timeline, a hundred years in the past, humans are on the defensive in a world overrun by supernatural creatures. Part 1 is a coming-of-age story in which Dean grows up on the family farm with his foster-brother after his mother deserts them when Dean was four (and Mary was secretly pregnant with Sam). In part 2, Sam and Dean reunite after a six-year separation to go in search of Mary and answers to the meaning of Dean's visions. Part 3 has the boys reunite again to travel through the damaged western countryside, empty of human life, to help their mother take down the demon that cursed her family.

Christmas story — lots of love and anguish, just like the Winchesters. And time travel! Why is it always so satisfying to read about them loving each other in various time periods? It just is. This is one of the best of those kinds of stories, for sure.

Alt-pre-season fic featuring BoyKing!Sam who has more control over his powers than canon, wiping people’s memories ala Andy Gallagher but oh man when it comes to his dad and Dean things get so emotionally charged. Well-written and gripping as all hell. Definitely deserves a re-read! Hoping for sequels.

It almost tastes like blood, like copper, the strain he can feel, and he has no idea which one of them it’s coming from. Maybe both. Maybe there’s no difference anymore.
To cure Dean from the Mark of Cain, Sam has to let Dean, in all his demonic glory, possess him for 28 days. It goes about as well as expected.

“Like a Ghost With Two Voices” by Dyed_Red. This is the demon-Dean-possesses-Sam story I never knew I wanted. Dark, angsty, devastating, and well-written. Post-possession, Dean understands his brother in ways he never would have if he hadn’t possessed him, not least that Sam actually likes being possessed.

My comment: Leaving Las Vegas by fictionallemons. Aw, you gave them their happy ending! I know you promised to do so in the tags, but I worried right along with Sam. He was so persistent about finding out what had happened to them, worrying about consent, concerned that whatever was missing from their memories would change things just when they seemed too perfect (or was that Dean? Sounds more like Dean!) Anyway, I really enjoyed this treatment of one of my favorite fanfic tropes and have bookmarked it so I can find it to read again!

Wonderful, funny, emotional Dean POV late-season fic Here are my comments:
OMG I love Soulless Dean! He'd rather be making chili, indeed! ROTFLMAO! Suggesting they have sex to let off steam, because of course he would, with no guilt-trip stopping him, the hedonist. And of course his fear of flying goes out the window with his soul. Then that hilarious visit by some random demons from Hell, begging Sam to come be their King. YOU FIXED THE VOICEMAIL! The sex makes so much sense. Dean would totally give Sam what he wanted, but without his soul, Sam can be sure he's not just giving in for Sam's sake lol. Demon Steve! I love the notion of him "defending their honor" when Dean expresses distaste at the thought of fucking teenage Sam. LOL! Major kudos for remembering Casey! I loved that stupid episode. Dean watching BBC dramas *hee* All of this is just priceless!

I love Dean just being honest with Sam, telling him what a good person he is, recognizing that his souled-self would never be so forthcoming or self-aware. *sob*
