Summary
The problem isn’t who would be there. The problem is the dinner itself.
“Dinner” had never been a particularly pleasant or peaceful affair growing up. Her dad had insisted that they sit together as a family because that was what most families did and Stolas wanted nothing more than for Via to have a normal family. For much of her childhood, it hadn’t really been an issue. She couldn’t remember what her mother was like during those dinners, only that her dad had always been smiling at her as he fed her before he ate his own meal.
“Picture perfect,” he used to say, but his smile would turn sad as he said it. As the years passed, her mother would use dinner as a chance to air out her grievances with Via’s dad; after spending much of the day avoiding each other, dinner always became a shouting match that Stella always won, Stolas being too conscious of Via’s presence to argue back, to fight back, to say anything. At one point, he had even offered to let Stella deviate from their nightly ritual since she did not enjoy it very much.
OR
Via goes to the apartment her dad shares with his new family and contemplates their relationship.

Blitzø sighed, pressing his head harder against the broken down steering wheel until it hurt. He heard the door to Lust Tower open and he glanced over, thinking Fizz had come out to berate him so more. He froze when he caught sight of familiar tail feathers, long legs exposed by that goddamn romper.
Stolas turned his collar up against the rain, holding his cloak tightly around him. Blitz felt his spines rise in response, felt his heart rate increase and his breath catch at the sight of him.
Fuck.
He watched Stolas begin walking down the street towards the elevators. Why didn’t he just open a portal?
OR
Blitzø drops Fizz off at Lust Tower and sees Stolas leaving. It's clear Stolas is still hurt from Striker's attempt at his life and Blitzø offers to give him a ride home too.
Blitzø has feelings.
Stolas has feelings.
They don't talk about it.
