Summary
Castiel has to make his choice.
He watches silently as Dean looks to the angel, his face full of desperation “There must be another way, there’s got to be a different way” he says his voice breaking, “Without Risking Cas, without him being lost.”
It is unlikely.
“I need time to think,” Castiel breathes softly, there is so much noise in the Men of Letter’s layer, it is suffocating the angel, he needs to think, and there must be some way to avoid being lost to Dean. But he cannot find that way in this noise, in this environment, he needs somewhere he can think, where he can find revelation, “I need some time, how much do we have?” he asks softly.

Summary
He feels Dean’s eyes on him when he thinks he won’t notice, and Castiel, feeling inexplicably tired, ignores it.
"There's no safer place for you than here," Dean assures him, as the impala climbs upwards, the road turning narrower and bendier. "It's a hunter's guesthouse, kind of. Really quiet area. No one will ask questions."
"I see," Castiel says, hands tightly folded in his lap.

As Cas is ordered to leave the bunker, he doesn’t end up at the Gas n’ Sip. Instead, he becomes a worker at a hunter’s guesthouse, situated in the middle of nowhere - where time appears to stand still, and he is left with an aching human body, relentless human chores, and recurring nightmares that feel distinctly like memories. So, he copes with his new form of existence the obvious way: by learning to shoot guns, ride a motorcycle, and to entertain the incessant flirtations from the other resident James.
