Post-MWIII: When Soap is killed by Makarov in the tunnels, the 141 are overrun and forced to leave his body behind with the enemy.
They never anticipate the mad, masked monster wearing Soap's face to come crawling back out, shaped and reborn by Makarov into weapon tailor made to destroy them all.

Summary
Ghost knows that the 141 is full of people not strictly human. It's not a big deal. In fact, mostly nobody talks about it. Ghost himself isn't purely human. When Soap told him that he was selkie, Ghost just assumed he meant "part-selkie."
Ghost was wrong. And when he accidentally picks up Soap's coat, he learns the hard way how bad of an assumption that was to make.
A role-reversal blatantly stealing ideas from EvanescentDreamer's "On Your Wavelength" series.

Soap wasn't sure when he'd really noticed König, but the realisation that he was very definitely checking the other man out as he fought made him feel faintly ill, nauseous guilt curling through his stomach as though he was somehow cheating on Ghost. Ghost who, as far as he knew, didn't know Soap fancied him, Ghost who almost certainly did not return his affections. Ghost who was yelling at him over the comms, asking why he'd stopped in the middle of a fucking battlefield.
