He was prepared to crane his neck at the cop meant to interrogate him. He had even prepared a lazy grin to show just how unaffected he is by the situation. Who instead showed up was a mammal smaller than him and who also had to struggle to get up on the chair across him.
His ears twitched at the click of her pen.
"Mr. Nicholas P. Wilde correct?" she said. It contained no inflection. Her face was as deadpan as her voice. "I'm Lieutenant Judy Hopps and I'm here to ask you some questions."

He looked back at Judy, half-expecting her to somewhat laugh at his predicament. Except when Nick saw her face, it’d gone pale. Her eyes were wide, and they looked at him like she’d seen a ghost, glassy and horrified. Judy's mouth had dropped open, and her gaze went back and forth between his collar and face.

It mirrors his own expression, but the key difference is that Lieutenant Hopps is allowed to feel the frustration she feels. She’s allowed to let it coarse through her veins without restraint, let the displeased thoughts consume her brain with no consequence.
Nick wonders what that’s like.
