Let's get the record straight. xB is not, never was, and will never be falling for Keralis. Not even when Keralis hums his stupid tunes or calls xB silly pet names or forgets the difference between his bones and skin in that cute way that he often does. No, xB isn't falling for him at all.
The rest of the hermits were whispering. They mutter under their breath and behind closed doors. Something had always been different about Keralis, and now something was clearly wrong.
Or, xBralis with lore and weirdness because that's what I do around here.

As soon as those words fell from Grian's lips, Scar's world completely shattered. He was silent for a second, as if the words were stuck in his throat. He opens his mouth, but no sounds come out. The silence was deafening as if the sound of shattered glass broke out in the middle of a silent room. The sound of his heart shattering into a million pieces.
Before he can reply, Grian interjects, "I'm sorry, Scar. This just isn't working out. It's nothing you did, I swear." His eyes wouldn’t meet Scar’s. Why? Why? What did Scar do to deserve this?

Summary
Long ago Xisuma had introduced the idea of a code phrase to the Hermits. It was a simple concept: sometimes bad things happened, even in conflicts meant for fun between friends, so if anyone spoke the simple phrase, it meant that something serious had happened and everything else needed to be put on pause for the moment.
And while he could appreciate the code, xB himself had never thought he would have to use it.
Until an emergency meeting gone wrong showed him how mistaken he was.
