Summary
Dustin purses his lips, not answering for a moment. He rolls his shoulders back and tilts his head upwards towards the darkening sky. He looks older than Steve remembers. There’s an image that’s been pressed into his brain for a while now, one of Dustin the day outside of the Wheeler's house. Then he’d been wide eyed and annoyed, but also full of energy. Rambling on about Mews and Dart, wrapping Steve in his plot to make things right.
Right now, as the setting sun shines across his face, Dustin looks exhausted. There's bags under his eyes and a slight crease in his forehead. Steve likens it to his own face in the months after seeing a monster bust through the Byers' living room wall. He smothers the urge to wrap the kid in a hug.

Steve and Dustin have a talk about the future over burgers.

Summary
There’s a cheap, fabric store thread tied to their pinkies that tethers them together and part of that unexpected, mildly unhealthy connection should mean that Robin sees shit. It should mean that she knows things. She should be able to peek into one of Steve’s ears and see his thoughts racing around and bumping into one another, and it shouldn’t matter how quickly they slide away from her because she’d still pick up the gory details of each and every one.
(or, Steve Harrington likes to talk, but it takes Robin an embarrassingly long time to realize that in all of the conversations they’ve shared, very rarely does Steve talk about himself.)

Summary
Once the initial fear has trickled from his blood Dustin actually registers what was gonna be used to bludgeon him with. A baby pink alarm clock, the minute hand still diligently ticking over. “Is.. Is that Nancy’s clock?”
Steve lets out what could be a sigh of relief, lowers the clock with one hand and uses the other to run through this hair. Then, seemingly taking in Dustin’s question, he looks down at the clock in his hands like he’d forgotten he’d grabbed it to begin with. Clearly it was the nearest thing next to him when Dustin woke him with all his noise. He feels a little guilty now. Steve sputters and then hisses “I.. yes? I thought there was something in the house!”

Post s1 Dustin has a nightmare at the Wheeler's house. Steve is also there.

Not for the first time, Steve Harrington wishes that life was like the movies, that he could close his eyes and skip this part, jump forward to a few days from now when the horrors are over and he’s back to putting the pieces of normalcy back together, like he has so many times before.
There’s no skipping this.
