Summary
Once he hears the door close shut, the footsteps retreating, Dan heng stops pretending to be asleep.
He opens his eyes and slowly raises himself to a seated position on the infirmary bed, taking his sweet time to not reopen any of his newly aquired wounds.
Dan Heng checks the time on his phone, which was mercifully left for him on the bedside table.
Three thirty in the morning.
He waits some more until he hears footsteps retreating into bedchambers and doors opening and closing shut. When the Express goes completely silent, he makes his move.
Or, Dan Heng taking steps to fix things, facing his problems head on.

Dan Heng sits quietly on the bus stop bench, busying himself with a random mobile game.
The chilly night air swaying the trees on the forested road was making everything extra creepy. He also couldn't help but miss the cozy coat left forgotten on his dorm room chair.
He glaces at the top of the screen, ignores multiple missed call notification icons and checks the time.
11:50 pm. It was almost time now.
He taps his way into the notes app and scrolls through a long thread of notes and observations he'd been recording, eversince he started attending college in the small town. He stops at one, double checks it.

Standing, Dan Heng drains the rest of his drink with a graceful sweep of his arm. The glass is on the counter in front of Caelus, ice clinking as it shifts, before he realizes that Dan Heng has returned to his end of the bar.
“Even if I must cross every mountain and valley on my own two feet,” Dan Heng says. He places his arm over his heart and inclines his head in a deep bow, “I will bring you home.”
Caelus blinks.
“Okay…?”
Dan Heng searches through several lifetimes to find Caelus and bring him home.
