“TK,” Carlos repeats for a third time, just as TK’s eyes are drooping again. “Did you lock the door?”
TK splutters on nothing. “What?”
“The door. Did you… lock it?”
The words are somewhere between a mindless murmur and a serious question, but TK isn’t sure of the answer. He would think so. He would hope it’s an automatic reaction to coming home these days, even if Carlos has taken to double-checking before they go to bed.
“Yes, baby,” he replies softly, “I think so.”
Carlos mumbles something else, and TK half expects that to be it until he adds, “Did you close Lou’s tank?”

in which TK gets home from work to a sleepy Carlos with a few questions on his mind.
