Summary
In the year 2202, Earth was destroyed by an interdimensional monster known as Salem. The remnants of humanity fled to a new system through a mysterious spacetime anomaly, and must face its bloodthirsty megafauna and the looming threat of Salem's return.
Yang Xiao Long and her sister Ruby Rose are leaving the shattered moon Patch for the first time. They've been accepted at Beacon Academy, a space station tethered above Vale where the system's brightest learn to fight monsters and pilot spaceships. Spaceflight might require a good sense for physics, but plugging yourself into the ship and casting your Semblance across the entire thing seems to come naturally.
Blake Belladonna, meanwhile, has just escaped a faction of space pirates lead by her now ex-boyfriend. She's found her way to Beacon Academy, and she's hoping for the best but expects the worst. It's terrifying how quickly she's getting attached to her new partner, but she has to hope this won't all end in disaster.

Summary
Yang and Blake are on a bog-standard huntress commission to go shoot a giant space worm, and Yang's having trouble getting emotional fuel for her Semblance. Blake has a fantastic idea for what they could do to strike her fire. Please do not try to have sex while shifting the acceleration of your spaceship at home.
This is set in the same continuity as Black Hole / Yellow Sun but you don't need to have read it if you just wanna read about spaceship sex. Alternatively, if you read this first and think "man, I wish this setting was used for a proper story and not just sex," do I have good news for you!

“Yang,” Blake says finally. “How old are you?”
“Nineteen,” Yang says. Blake nods, the confusion on her face disappearing. She reaches out with one hand and lays it atop Yang’s prosthetic. Gently, she guides Yang’s hand down so that there isn’t a gun in her face anymore. Yang doesn’t fight her. “How old are you?” Yang asks. Blake sighs, shakes her head, half-smiles.
“Thirty-two."
(yang falls, and falls, and falls through time.)
