Summary
Inutachi roll up to a destroyed village close to the well; where they find death and destruction. While they are preparing to dig graves for all the dead, Kagome comes across an injured dog. Inuyasha thinks that killing it outright would be a mercy because they couldn’t possibly take care of it. Kagome is about to show him that he is very wrong.
OR
Inuyasha becomes increasingly jealous as Kagome pays attention to an actual dog. The movie, the book.

Summary
Kagome, heiress to the vast Higurashi empire, finally comes home to her family's ranch in the mountains after four years away at college in the city. As soon as she's back she comes face to face with a new cowboy working for her family: a rude, gruff, irritating half-demon.
Inuyasha has worked as a cowboy his entire life. It's the only work a half-demon like him can get, and he's good at it. He soon finds himself showing off for the annoyingly-beautiful heiress that rides around the ranch on her expensive show horse, spreading her delicious scent over the wind and driving him completely insane.
As the two of them grow closer, a threat slowly begins to grow just beyond the borders of the ranch. She and Inuyasha work together to do what they can to preserve their way of life against Naraku, a real-estate developer who is hell bent on driving Kagome's family away and not above bending the law to do so.

Inuyasha grimaces. His foot starts tapping again, and Kagome notes that he’s wearing dark Chelsea boots with tight jeans – and they are tight everywhere. “You really weren’t listening to me,” he says, aggravated. “I told you. I’ve been sent by The Guild.”
“The Guild.”
He shoots her an unimpressed glare, which is understandable. Everyone knows about The Guild of Witches. Kagome’s not in top form, but she can slowly piece two and two together. The Guild of Witches is the governing body for all practicing witches on the continent. They are judge and jury, enforcement and legislation, scholarship and practicum. In this instance, what she’s gathering is this: The Guild has sent her yet another familiar for her to attempt to bond with, because they think she is dangerous and/or evil, and they wish to have a spy.

Summary
It's ludicrous. She knows it is. She could (scratch that, would) be killed if revealed, and if not that, the high-risk environment of war might just nick her off anyway. But her father is crippled, her beloved southern village severely depleted in numbers, and she has a duty to protect them. She will not turn her back on people who need her.
And fighting the Fire Nation might just be the adventure she's been waiting for.
(The handsome, albeit impulsive and fiery army captain certainly doesn't hinder the cause)

With that, his muscles bunched in his legs as he sprung up and out of the well, a red blur in the night as he made his way through the forest to his destination. His precious cargo held safely to his chest, as he raced to save her with his demonic speed.
