Shouta was too far to shout it, and too far to reach Midoriya, get his attention.
Too far to stop the boy from bolting out into the street, towards the car, towards the child, lightning and a smile mixing into a swirling blur.
Towards the danger.
"Don't!"
'Don't let it break, Shou!' Oboro's voice echoed in his ear as he sprinted down the hill towards Izuku, too slow to make a difference and stop the inevitable as tires screeched and horns blared.

One second they’re saying something stupid, the next they’re reading and highlighting quietly on their own, then the pen is rolling out of Izuku’s hand, his head falls back against the pillow, and he’s asleep.
Katsuki just lets him sleep.
It should piss him off. It does piss him off. Doesn’t it? He should’ve made them study downstairs in the common room and flicked bits of paper at him if he started to doze. He should flick paper at him right now. He should wake him up.
He's not going to wake him up.
