Focuses a lot on Katniss and her healing journey after the story and before the epilogue. Slightly different than canon in that she doesn't rely on Peeta so much for her healing but relies on her community (like Sae and her granddaughter and the people who come back to rebuild 12) She makes a lot of progress before Peeta even gets there and is therefore able to help him on his journey. Very introspective. Focuses more on Katniss's caring nature and how she comes to care for herself by caring for others. -

It was so bittersweet to her. Getting a taste of what being unapologetically yourself looked like.
She wanted to find that in herself. She wanted to dig into her hollowed out soul and find what was left. Then she'd tear it out and hold it in delicate hands, nurture it until she had something that would flourish.
Wouldn’t it be nice, she thought sadly, if she’d live long enough to grow into a person without fear of what others thought. What a pretty flower her soul would be.
