Summary
It was hard to gander how long Grace was on Erid when Simon came along. He could try measuring it out using the Earth’s Gregorian calendar like he did on the Hail Mary, but that’s when he still had a “lights out” timer and didn’t live on a planet with a very different yearly calendar. Teaching little eridians has forced him to adapt to their schedule more than his.
Where was he going with this?
Right! Simon.
He still hadn’t met him yet.
Or Rocky and other eridians find a wormhole and then an injured human man! They bring him to Erid and quarantine him to get him nice and healthy, but slowly find out he’s much different than their beloved science teacher.

Summary
Two years into Ryland Grace's trip to Erid, and the scientist was starting to take a turn for the worse. Passing by a random transmission, the Hail Mary was slowly starting to die. The Nanny-Bot was fucked, he was missing a fuel tank, and the communications was driving him insane.
It surprises him when he hears what sound like a humans voice- English no less.

Summary
An Eridian mining crew find a human welded into a stranded ship on the surface of a moon. They bring him back to Erid, to the only other human they know.
Something in Grace's chest flickered into life. He had buried it so long ago that he hardly knew what it was anymore, and so he took off his glasses and cleaned them on the edge of his cardigan, as if Rocky's words were a smudge he could clear away before finding the will to hope.
“Ah…” his words failed halfway out of his mouth. Rocky chittered at him, a little sound of encouragement. “There’s another human? Here. And… alive?”

What a welcome sight. Even if this stupidly handsome man ends up being evil, or working for the C.O.I, at least he’d die looking at something good.

“Maybe we really should’ve dumped him somewhere,” a quiet mumble reaches Bjorn’s ears.
If he had been distracted or not paying attention at all he would’ve thought that Askeladd was simply thinking out loud, about their next destination, about repairing of the ship, something like that. But no, Bjorn was listening to his surroundings. He turned to where Askeladd was sitting on the ground behind him, leaning against a tree. His cold blue eyes were fixed on something. His motionless expression hid deep thoughtfulness. He followed his gaze. Not far away, men stood in a circle, like village onlookers, watching the hand-to-hand duel. With his usual sharpness and agility, Thorfinn was fighting someone, Bjorn didn’t catch who exactly. It was rare for this boy to train with someone, Bjorn was actually surprised. Viking looked back at Askeladd. It was rare to catch that exact thoughtfulness about that child in his gaze too. Askeladd was a man who was truly hard to understand. Sometimes Bjorn wondered if he himself understands what kind of a person he is. But this all is just a twaddle.
