Summary
It all starts with a realspace raid. Kaedrach is a wych of the Fallen Blades, a small cult trying to carve out their reputation and existence in the cutthroat society of Commoragh. Ava is nothing. A mutant, then a captive, then a slave. She has to try and survive the bottom of the Dark City when Kaedrach brings her home as a spoil of the raid. Both exist in the same space, but their universes are entirely different. One inflicting pain, the other only surviving until it is her turn to provide it. Kaedrach, a member of a parasitic race needing the other, and Ava only surviving as long as she can be useful. Yet, innocents do not survive in Commoragh. Both will have to chose just how far they are willing to go to fight for their existence.
This story was inspired by the 40k lore questions "what does middle class look like in Commoragh" and "what does Commoragh look like for slaves".Small warning, people die and get tortured in this fic. A lot. As for the non-con tag status, for a long time I had skirted over it and it was hinted at, not fully described, but chapter 11 goes there. So yeah. Mind the tags.

They're quite polite actually, several even showing up to her sunset recitals, including two bonded Tau women who fall in love with her on the spot.
A story of coming to terms with loss, fear, prejudice, and oneself, and learning to love yourself through the eyes of another despite the world's best efforts.
