Shane looks away, focusing on anything but the earnestness in Ilya’s eyes. “She’s nice, she’s beautiful, she’s fun,” he starts.
He feels Ilya’s eyes digging holes into his face.
“And- she’s safe,” he whispers, admittedly. His heart thumps against his chest, and for some reason, he feels his eyes welling up with tears. Fuck. “Because she doesn’t make everything so fucking confusing.”
There’s a long silence. Then, softly, “Do I?”
