Twenty-three days after Anakin Skywalker is declared dead, Obi-Wan Kenobi wakes up from his coma to a world where everything has changed. Oh, there's still a war. There's still his men who need him, there's still the Jedi Order, there's still missions and the Code and politicians and obligations.
But there's no meaning. There's no purpose. Anakin Skywalker has been dead for twenty-three days, and even the Chosen One cannot conquer death.

Summary
Senior padawan Obi-Wan Kenobi has loved his best friend's Jedi master for years. That's not an excuse for what happens next, but it's the truth. He has loved Anakin Skywalker in some form or fashion since he was a youngling.
When Ahsoka gets too drunk on a night out after the end of the war and Obi-Wan is tasked with seeing her safely home and to her bed, things turn heated and charged between Master Skywalker and Obi-Wan. It's a bad idea from the very beginning. There's no way Master Skywalker will be able to give him what he really wants, because there's no way in the entire galaxy that Master Skywalker loves him the way Obi-Wan has loved Master Skywalker.
If he did, he would have chosen him as his padawan.
Not that Obi-Wan still thinks about that.

It’s a truth he long ago accepted. If Obi-Wan were to descend into the darkness then Anakin would have no choice, but to follow. He knows that is not the Jedi way, but there are some things Anakin could care less about when it comes to choosing Obi-Wan.
And if that makes him less of a Jedi then so be it.
“Anakin.” Obi-Wan sighs.
“Don’t pretend.” Anakin nearly begs. “Not now, please.”
