“Are you going to be good for your father today?”
“Tch” Nero scoffs at the text message, but a slight twitch in his pants betrays him. He rolls his shoulders once, and hesitates only a moment before he replies. “Yes, ma’am.”
“Good boy,” she texts back. And Nero squirms. Kyrie only ever teases him for his own benefit. So he sucks it up. If Kyrie thinks today is a good day for this, he will listen.
“Love you,” he sends her, then pockets his phone. He knows he will have a “Love you back” message from her later, but apparently he has a mission with his dad in the meantime.

Vergil stands in the center of the lobby, back towards Dante, but despite the frigid posture, he begins to crack, and Vergil has never in his life cracked without taking someone down with him.
"I will suffer much from you— your fecklessness, your immaturity, your constant prying, but what I will not have, is your accursed pity", Vergil hisses.
Dante throws his hand in the air to dismiss the claim that’s so theatrical no one else could make it but his twin brother.
"Now you’re just being dramatic. I don't pity you one bit"Vergil slowly heals. Only, his healing always begins with another wound.

He had already come to terms with the fact that his father wouldn’t show up for his birthday. Truthfully, he’d resigned himself to the familiar sting of disappointment. But when Vergil did arrive, Nero wasn’t even remotely prepared for the gift he brought with him. Not by a long shot.
