A very drunk Harry fell into the living room of 12 Grimmauld Place. Staying on the floor for a few minutes, he waited pathetically for Kreacher to sigh aggrievedly at the state he was in. Face squashed against the rug, Harry managed to peer at the elf from the floor.
“I will sleep here tonight, Kreacher.”
“As Master says.”
“In- In the morning, can… can you remind me that I-I’m in love with my best friend?”
Or: After the war, when Harry's love life with Ginny unravels, the gossip mills start targeting Hermione as the reason why. Only Harry knows that maybe there was more truth to the accusations than usual.

Summary

The battle at the Department of Mysteries goes very differently. Harry ends up critically injured and it's down to the people left who care about him the most to save him.
