Summary
Several years after The Great Dark, the world has recovered from Koboi's attempt to trigger Armageddon. Around the globe, people have returned to their normal lives— including one 18-year-old Artemis Fowl, whose mother has insisted that the family try to start a new, calmer life without any fairy involvement or life-and-death situations. Unfortunately, adventure does not want to leave Artemis alone. Still in contact with his friends underground, he's one of the first people to know about an unexplainable phenomenon: the dead, reappearing on the Earth's surface as though they had never been killed, both friends and enemies of Fowl and the LEP. While there is joy in being able to reconnect with loved ones gone too soon, the LEP (and Artemis) know that these 'miracles' cannot go on, lest those who would want to end the world or expose the fairy race be given a second chance. The path to figuring out the magical mystery involves prophecy, family secrets, and Angeline being determined to convince her son to ask out the cute girl he'd met with hair redder than a cherry— who happens to have her own history with Haven and the fairy race.
