Beomgyu paused. “No.”
Kai shook his head, too, but then Yeonjun spoke. “Like, when an alpha thinks that an omega is their mate?”
Taehyun pressed his lips together grimly. “For all intents and purposes, they are. Their inner alpha responds the exact same way they would to a mate, feels the same level of bonding and connection. Soobin hyung has always been a little bit… different about you, hasn’t he?”
“Ghost matings are really rare, though,” Yeonjun said.
“I’m just saying that might explain what happened tonight,” Taehyun replied.
“That doesn’t explain shit!” Beomgyu exclaimed, clearly worked up again. “Soobin has a gigantic crush on Yeonjun hyung, so what!? I figured that out years ago–“
“Hang on, hyung,” Taehyun interrupted, putting a gentle hand on Beomgyu’s shoulder. “Just listen. Ghost matings are all internal, right? So when the inner alpha realizes that the connection isn’t reflected externally, it causes a lot of distress. Sometimes that can show itself as the urge to…” Taehyun trailed off, and goosebumps rose on the back of Yeonjun’s neck when they made eye contact. “You know. Summary
The cover is a light purple, a soft pastel that’s easy on the eyes, and there’s a small sticker of a cat in a lower corner. Jaemin rubs a finger over it, feeling the edge of it flick under his nail. He opens the book up to the first page and blinks when he sees a ruled page, bursting with handwritten sentences.
Because the thing is: even to this day, I’ve never said it out loud.
Or: Jaemin gets a handwritten notebook in the mail, is a bit sad, and gets frustrated at the author.

Yeonjun likes to think he’s fairly affable. At least, as much as he can be in his line of work. His list of dislikes is short, the items of pure loathing even shorter. And yet, on this one single evening, he finds himself staring down the barrel of all of them all at once.
Vapid rich people. Bad champagne. Choi Soobin.
“What the fuck is he doing here?” Yeonjun grits between the neutral expression he’s had plastered to his face for most of the night. He can’t cause a scene. Not yet.
“Who? Oh, Soobin?” Kai follows Yeonjun’s line of sight to the man chatting up the bartender, black hair slicked back neatly and a crisp, expensive suit clinging to his broad frame. “He’s just back up. In case you can’t get the job done.”
