Summary
In the bountiful multiverse- or maybe just a line in a singular, throwaway page- one Dazai Osamu finds his standstill with Death finally coming to a close. It seems his luck has run out. Or perhaps the opposite is the case, and lady luck has finally deigned to smile upon him.
Regardless, the outcome is the same. On a clear spring day, just as the sun begins to set: Dazai gazes upon a river and prepares to jump in. His partner in the ADA was already called and on his way, and a starving orphan is just a ways ahead, waiting for their first encounter.
It just so happens that in this iteration of the story, when Dazai falls into the river- a wayward bunch of rocks he somehow missed in his calculations manages to interrupt his trajectory. And hit him square in the head. It is not a painless, nor instantaneous death. In his last moments, Dazai has only the singular thought that: this is not how he wanted things to go.
What if: Dazai dies in the first episode of BSD. He still manages to enact his plans.
