Still, there is a chance he can avoid the paperwork if he is forgiven, so he prepares a nice Canadian apology on his tongue before Hollander has turned around.

Summary

Summary
Based very loosely on events from The Long Game that my brain wanted to put into the first book, somewhere between Shane’s injury, and before Scott Hunter wins the cup - for maximum angst, obviously.
What if Ilya’s plane had actually crashed? And what if it had happened before he and Shane had the chance to confess their love and know what it was like to be together.
Or
A fic so I could write a really needy Shane who can't hide his feelings anymore, and an Ilya who is faced with the undeniable truth that someone cares for him.

Shane Hollander is the Golden Boy of the NHL. He's perfect, polite, and crumbling under the weight of the noise in his own head. He doesn't need sex. He doesn't need a relationship. What he definitely doesn't need is an arrogant asshole who won't stay on his side of the ice (or out of his head).
And yet, somehow, inexplicably, Ilya Rozanov is the only person who notices that Shane is suffocating.

Chrissy breaks the kiss and her cheeks hold a bright flush. She wipes the side of her mouth when some saliva has collected and smiles wide. “I think I like shotgunning.”
All Eddie can do is nod and stutter out, “Anytime you want.”
A spark in her eyes as she unwraps her legs from his and stands. Eddie misses her weight and his fingers twitch to hold her again.
“Anytime? You’d do that for me?”
Eddie would do just about anything to get her sitting on his lap again.
“Yeah, princess. I’ll do you the favor.”
She has to be careful. The feeling of being in control can get too addicting.
It never crosses Eddie's mind to deny Chrissy anything.
