Power is a fascinating thing. Even with the shock collar, voice removal, and altogether altered code by LettuceK, Wemmbu isn't going to let himself give into what Lettuce wants. He'll get out of here. No matter how long it takes.
And, of course, Lettuce is counting on him to think exactly that. Every little move the demon makes just lands him further under the LAW's control - who would've thought that the urge to obey can fill in so many wounds in a 'person'?
OR: perhaps the best way to train a dog is to convince it that it wants it.

He soon recalled a certain parrot; its vibrant green both cure and poison to the contamination of his mind, and found it much more capable than he was.
