Summary
Two hundred years after the events that took place in Oakhurst, Scott, Shelby, and Drift are on their annual trip to the town. This year, instead of a still grave, they find Avid, just coming out of a long stay in Limbo. His arrival, though it is much-appreciated, upsets the peaceful lives of the remaining vampires, and forces them to face head-on long buried problems, feelings, and memories. As for Avid, he feels like a stranger to this modern world, trying to slot himself back into place where he used to fit neatly. But maybe, just maybe, this development is exactly what they all need.

Summary
He passed over the hill where the ruined bridge now spanned in front of him. He looked back anxiously, checking to make sure nobody— vampiric or otherwise— was following him or able to see what he was doing. After confirming that he was presumably alone (unless, of course, someone was watching him invisibly from the shadows), he began slowly making his way across the bridge, carefully crossing the paths laid by humans to span the massive gaps and holes while doing his best not to look down. Once he arrived at the front door, he took the note he had written addressed to Scott out of his pocket.

You said something in town the other day that I’d like to ask you a bit more about.
Please meet me at the obelisk an hour after sundown.
No tricks, no fighting, I just want to talk. Please.
