Zhongli shifts from where he is seated, carefully placed among the hewn tangle of limbs to place a kiss upon Childe's knuckles. "At the embodiment of my heart, placed firmly where he is meant to be."
Childe laughs, a boisterous noise that echoes within the warm confines, harmonizing with the buzz of the rain, a laugh that is paired with Childe placing the book carefully upon the side table and leaning in to press a lazy kiss into Zhongli's neck, their bodies fitted together like slotted puzzle pieces. When he speaks the words are low, "And where is that?"
"Here, next to me."
Zhongli begs him to stay, Childe persuades him to leave. An immovable pillar standing against crashing waves.

But when Zhongli momentarily leaves their home for a business trip in Sumeru, Childe realizes just how terrifying everything is. Especially when he is an incapable mother and the Adepti is ready to rip him away from his child.
