But it would be a lie, the most blatant, laughably false thing she could possibly claim. Because there is not a single part of Stevie that is not so irrevocably in love with Twyla Sands.Somehow, she thinks, trying to deny it — as if she could — would only make her fall deeper, harder.
So, she breathes out slowly through her nose, her gaze unmoving from the white popcorn texture of the ceiling. “Yes. Yes, I am.”
