Summary
It was customary for every child to be assigned a token, short for bride token or bride price, at their coming of age ceremony that was held once a year for the entire village. Everyone who had turned 18 since the last ceremony was welcomed into adulthood and their worth for the village and their family was judged.
Bakugou Katsuki was the village's pride and joy.
Midoriya Izuku wasn't.

Summary
The mating grounds were a sacred place. The old songs that all mer children listened to while growing up told them of its location, about the peace that prevailed there, and how it was the last safe haven for every wanderer. Lure singing had become rare over the years, but most pods still had one or two elders who were teaching the gift to the younger generation.
While Katsuki was sure he would never need to travel there, he hadn't been prepared for how it made him feel watching Izuku swim away from him to find a partner elsewhere.

Summary
Izuku and Katsuki are mermen in the same pod. They're best friends—partners in crime—and they do everything together. They even take up jobs guarding the pod's territory together.
When Katsuki presents as an alpha, nothing changes. Izuku expects that nothing will change when he presents, either. But then, he presents as an omega. At first, he doesn't mind. Why would anything change? Besides, maybe now that he's an omega, Katsuki would consider courting him.
But instead, Katsuki all but vanishes.

“Could I get a name for the order?” Marlene asked.
“Serious,” the man replied. “Like the star,” he clarified, and Remus mentally scratched out 'Serious' and rewrote 'Sirius' in his head.
“The… star?” Marlene asked, her pen hovering over the cup as she hesitated.
“S-I-R-I-U-S,” Remus said. He stocked croissants into the display case, not looking up. “The Dog Star,” he added, “brightest star in the sky, actually. Visible from both hemispheres.” When he looked over, the man– Sirius– seemed surprised, his eyebrows raised as Remus spoke, and when Remus finished, he blinked a few times before smiling lopsidedly.
“Er– yeah,” he breathed a laugh. “That.” There was a baby on his hip. Somehow, it had taken Remus a second glance to notice that.

Or, Remus works as a barista and Sirius comes in every morning with the world's cutest baby, and man, these two just wrote the book on mutual pining, huh?
