Rebuilding an entire dwarven kingdom, for one. And airing out the stink of dragon would be nice as well.

Summary
Thorin stood by Bilbo’s fire with a pipe in hand, his face locked upon the flames. He was so very different from the proud pompous thing that had stood in Bilbo’s foyer and scoffed at him not an hour before.
When Thorin started to sing, Bilbo had to sit down. It was all he could do not to put his head in his hands. He knew at that moment, that he would be going on this journey, but he was not brave enough yet to voice it.
Thorin sang of mountain peaks and golden halls and burning battlefields and most of all of home; every note came from his mouth like the words themselves were sacred. Hypnotizing, mesmerizing. Bilbo suspected that if Thorin had sung to those traitorous dwarven lords who’d turned his quest down in indifference, he might have won their allegiance.
How anyone could deny Thorin, after hearing a voice like that, Bilbo could not fathom.
(Or moments of song, and love, on the journey to Erebor and onwards.)

Summary
The whistles were for the Waynes. Tim may have forced himself to be a bird, but it wasn’t his place to force himself into their lives even more. There was a line that Tim still wasn’t allowing himself to cross. He was here first as a crutch for Bruce, now as a tool to help control the crime in Gotham.
OR: Tim doesn't know the whistle code, at first. He ends up wishing that he did know both the code, and how to finger whistle.
