Summary
After a few minutes of trying to drift off, Billy’s eyes suddenly flew open, and his heart rate picked up fast. He felt like he was being watched, and he didn’t like it. He tried to keep still and remind himself that it was just his imagination, but it was no use. The feeling was too strong, and when he heard something knock against the side of his car, he almost pissed himself. There was definitely someone, or something, outside watching him, and he had about two seconds to come up with a plan of escape before he completely freaked the fuck out.
“Hey!” A sharp knock on the window and an annoyed voice accompanying it made Billy jump about ten feet in the air, screaming bloody murder as he scrambled to the far side of the car and tried to get his breathing and heart rate back under control.

Summary
Billy’s a tactile guy. He lies down with his head on Steve’s lap sometimes, and Steve loses track of his textbook watching the shadows cast by his eyelashes, but, like, they’ve been doing that since freshman year. And Billy always has a hand on Steve’s back when they’re in line at the dining hall, or when they’re out for drinks, because Steve has a tendency to wander off if he gets distracted. Billy always leans on Steve to catch himself when he trips, with a hand on his bicep or his chest, but it’s not like it’s Billy’s fault he trips a lot for a guy who’s otherwise well coordinated.
Steve doesn’t mind that Billy touches him so much, of course not. They’ve been friends for years at this point, and it’s honestly the strongest friendship Steve’s ever had.
It’s just that, if Billy starts dating Heather and she sees him hanging all over Steve, she might get the wrong idea, and it could make things awkward.
(Billy is pining, Steve is oblivious, and Heather doesn't want anything to do with this. Steve and Billy touch each other all the time, because that's what friends do.)
