Summary
Fresh off a panic attack, Rey takes in a self-plucking parrot with a dirty mouth.
~The parrot is crammed into the back corner of the supply store where the vents are loudest and the ceiling mildewed. He’s wearing a chipped plastic bite collar and less than a third of his dark feathers.
The rest are arrayed on the floor of the cage in a pitiful, dirty pile.
As she approaches he ducks away, shy. Trembling, hiding his face in the worn tarp that covers the cage.
“Are you a pretty bird?” she asks.~

Summary
Rey has been raised by her Grandfather after her parents supposedly abandoned her. Desperate to escape Exegol and find them, she strikes a bargain to leave by marrying the fearsome Lord Ren. After a surprisingly sudden wedding night, she finds that she's been left in the care of Ben - his squire - not realizing that they are the same man. All things seem to be going surprisingly happily, until Snoke demands that Lord Ren prove his loyalty - setting off a series of events that will reshape their world and reunite him with old friends.

“Here you go,” Rey finds herself murmuring, keeping the strip of chicken still so the cat can inspect it, “all for you.”
Her heart twists a bit upon seeing this cat up close. An old scar curves down its little face, barely missing its eye before it slips down to disappear under its chest. Rey doesn’t think she’s ever seen such dark irises on a cat before: chocolate brown, nearly as dark as the pupil in the low light. Like this cat was birthed from the night itself.
