Summary
After the incident at the USJ, Shouta is left to heal and recuperate mainly in the privacy of his own home. Shortly after he begins his recovery, however, he begins receiving strange packages filled with food, and with no discernible origin. When Dean accidentally revealed that Bobby told him that he was Bobby's favorite, it wasn't a big deal. Really, it wasn't.
It's not like Sam identified with Bobby more than any other hunter in the world except his brother.
It's not like Bobby was one of the only people left on Earth that actually cared if he existed.
It's not like they had bonded over their research skills and their mutual teasing of his big brother.
It's not like he had lived with the man for two months when Dean was in that boys home.
It's not like Bobby had known him since he was in diapers, and knew exactly how hard he tried to be what the people around him needed.
It's not like the man had raised him just as much as his biological dad ever had, and it’s not like Sam valued and cherished Bobby's opinion.
Considering all of these absolute truths, it was safe to say Dean's offhand comment didn't bother Sam at all, no really.

Summary
Sam and Dean have finally got to a good place in their relationship, after the fiasco that was the few years Dean had the Mark. Now, weird things are happening all the time, and Sam has no idea what is going on or why. Dean is acting strangely, like he knows something Sam doesn't. Sam is just looking for an explanation that makes sense.
Or five times Sam used his powers without knowing it, and one time he knew it and worried what Dean would think.

Summary
Dean expected his brother to find a way to cope after he was dragged Downstairs. He figured Sam would go back to Stanford, or maybe stick with Bobby and live up to the Winchester name. By no means did he, even for a second, think Sam might look to parenting as a coping mechanism.
“You’re a hunter, Sam, not a freaking foster dad."
Sam says he can be both, and he isn't giving up Liam for anything or anyone. Not Ruby. Not demon blood or revenge. Not Heaven or Hell. Not even Dean.
“Liam stays. It’s not up for debate.”
Heaven wasn't expecting this, either. They thought Sam would enter a self-destructive tailspin—and for a while, he did—but Sam tore up the playbook when he decided to be a family man instead of a blood junkie. Not that they're concerned; they know how to get what they want.
“Do you really think they’re going to stop gunning for you just because you’ve got baggage now?”
All Liam wants is to complete sixth grade without straight Ds or dying. It sounds like a relatively easy goal. It is not, and if one more angel or demon or monster tries to eat him or smite him or haul him off to who knows where, he is boycotting math.
