There is nothing now that Gaara, the man, can do to heal the wounds caused by Gaara, the monster. He cannot bring murdered villagers back from the dead. He cannot un-traumatize the children he terrorized in his youth. He cannot even repair the desert ecosystem that he disrupted during his massive, sand-filled rages. All he can do is be a safe harbor - level, and steady, and reliable as the sunrise - for his village, for his family, and for his friends.

Summary
After the Mission to take Sasuke back failed, the sand siblings Gaara, Temari und Kankuro stay for a few days in Konohagakure. A little while after returning to Sunagakure, Gaara comes back to Konoha alone. His mission: Learn how to love and be loved.
Shikamaru just wants to spend a little bit more time with Neji. To get to know him, just because Neji’s cool. Neji thinks about Shikamaru more than he probably should. And Kakashi and Gai just have a really weird work relationship.
[This story is set after the Sasuke Recovery Mission and will diverge from Shippuden canon events from that point on.]

Summary
When a drunk Rock Lee crashes into Gaara after a Kage meeting visit, he loudly demands to know why his boyfriend hasn't written in two months—inadvertently outing their fourteen-month secret relationship to his horrified teammates. The Kazekage calmly explains bandits have been stealing their love letters, which prompts Lee to immediately declare a passionate mission to defend all correspondence everywhere, forcing Gaara to physically cart his enthusiastic boyfriend home while TenTen and Neji process the revelation that their teammate is dating actual sand royalty.
