Not for the first time since they ran away together, a camera reel of all the things they don't know about one another whirs behind Martin's eyes, and he can't help but look at all the sprawling magnetic tape and wonder if they’re going to wind up a romance or a tragedy.

Summary
"What are you thinking about?" Jon asks, making that concentrated face that means he's being careful not to thread the needle of compulsion through his words.
Martin bends over him again, kissing his shoulder through his soft cotton shirt. He feels Jon's head turn; feels his soft little sigh against his temple. He wants to feel it again.
"You," he whispers, pressing another kiss to his shoulder. "This." He tilts his face to Jon's neck, tonguing at his skin. "Always this."

Summary
A playful smile spreads across Martin’s face, and Jon feels the nervous tension draining from his shoulders.
“Jonathan Sims,” says Martin in a tone of faux shock. “Are you an exhibitionist?”
“I suppose you’ll have to watch and find out,” Jon teases back, and Martin laughs.

Summary
“I mean…” Jon started, low, with his eyes scanning over the various odds and ends, not landing on anything particular. That was, until they snapped up to Martin’s face, a little too open, a little too soft - crinkled at the edges, with the ghost of a wry smile. “Nothing says we can’t make the hunt house cozy. I think it might help, actually.”
He bit down the instinctive laugh that tried to bubble up at that, and...at the sudden realization of just how *absurd* this all was.
Jon agreeing to decorate their new house together, temporary as it may have been. Them, being alive, together, at all. Just getting to discuss knicknacks and curiosities, mulling over it like it was domestic and normal, and - and -And he thought he’d be dead, by the end of last night. Had practically *planned* on it.
…And now he was looking at themed mugs with Jon, in a little shop in the depths of rural Scotland.
Funny how that worked.

Summary
Exiting the Lonely was an obscure process—for Martin, at least. He was sure Jon could see every sliding puzzle piece as reality shuffled back into place. It was in the way his usual two eyes were blacker than before, extra heavy, and the notion of other eyes lurked heavy in the contour of his skin, out of the periphery of vision. Martin’s glasses were fogging up, but the condensation cleared every time Jon looked at him. Jon never smiled when he did this, but he always nodded to himself, as if there were something correct about Martin being there.

Summary
Jon may be an Omega, but he takes the pill against those horrible heats, and douses himself in scent blockers. There's no reason for anyone to think of him as anything else than a Beta.
Meanwhile, Martin's Alpha stink is an affront, and Jon wishes the man would stop being so blatantly disrespectful.
Unless the acidic smell isn't caused by Martin looking down on him. Though that's not very likely, now is it.

Summary
Martin’s hand moves to his lap more out of preserving his modesty than anything, he swears, but Jon’s eyes track the movement and he thinks he blushes all the way down his chest.
“Sorry–”
“What for? It’s interesting.” Jon reaches out his hand. “May I?”

Listen, Tim was going to complain absolutely not at all when Jon got a little tipsy, got a little… not handsy, that was too strong of a word for Jon in any situation, but… touchy-feely.

Summary
Martin has long been fed up with his family who's still trying to pair him off with a woman. When his cousin's wedding is coming up, Tim has the solution for him: he's going to pretend to be Martin's boyfriend. A foolproof plan, if it weren't for their feelings getting in the way. Feelings for each other—and for Jon.
Meanwhile, Jon is having some kind of emotion about this whole fake dating thing, but it isn’t jealousy. Certainly not. He couldn’t even tell you who he’s jealous of.

Summary
"I still don't get what the big deal is," Jon complains once Tim lapses into silence.
"Yeah, yeah," Tim says, turning in the booth to give Jon a lopsided smile. "I know. You're immune to this pesky thing called sexual attraction."
From someone else, this kind of teasing could easily rub Jon the wrong way, but Tim says it with such fondness that he simply snorts and says, "Damn right I am."
Tim throws his head back and laughs, and Jon grins, forgetting for a moment where they are. This kind of banter is familiar, established after years of being first co-workers and then friends in Research, and it's only when Sasha joins the laughter that Jon remembers it's not just the two of them. He freezes. Tim's eyes go wide. Jon wrenches his eyes away from Tim to look at Martin. The only one at the table who doesn't yet know that Jon is asexual.

Summary
"Martin?" He hears Jon call from the kitchen. The sound echoes in his head, bounces off the walls of his skull and distorts with every collision until it is nothing but static, white noise, white foam clinging to his thighs as he stands in the ocean.
Left the kettle on, Martin realizes somewhat distantly. The shrieking had stopped a while ago, but the hob was likely still on, heating a kettle full of nothing for an empty house. Sometimes, Martin wonders if Jon feels like he lives with a ghost. There's irony somewhere in there, but Martin's too tired, too cold to try to find it.

Summary
The patrol yielded, as usual, nothing. Now, Martin has fixed himself the first of the day’s many, many cups of tea and curled up at his desk with the camp bed’s static-tinged blanket draped around his shoulders. He’s nursing a headache and toying with the idea of requisitioning a recorder to read some bits of poetry into—something he’s wanted to try for a while now—when Jon stumbles his way into the Archives.

Summary
Jon surprises himself when he reaches out to take the plaster from Martin’s grasp, stilling him with a light touch to the back of his hand. Martin’s eyes are wide when Jon glances up, seemingly as startled as he.
“For god’s sake, Martin,” he mutters in an attempt to save face, cheeks aflame, “let me help.”
