Jon may be an Omega, but he takes the pill against those horrible heats, and douses himself in scent blockers. There's no reason for anyone to think of him as anything else than a Beta.
Meanwhile, Martin's Alpha stink is an affront, and Jon wishes the man would stop being so blatantly disrespectful.
Unless the acidic smell isn't caused by Martin looking down on him. Though that's not very likely, now is it.

Summary
Martin has long been fed up with his family who's still trying to pair him off with a woman. When his cousin's wedding is coming up, Tim has the solution for him: he's going to pretend to be Martin's boyfriend. A foolproof plan, if it weren't for their feelings getting in the way. Feelings for each other—and for Jon.
Meanwhile, Jon is having some kind of emotion about this whole fake dating thing, but it isn’t jealousy. Certainly not. He couldn’t even tell you who he’s jealous of.

Summary
"I still don't get what the big deal is," Jon complains once Tim lapses into silence.
"Yeah, yeah," Tim says, turning in the booth to give Jon a lopsided smile. "I know. You're immune to this pesky thing called sexual attraction."
From someone else, this kind of teasing could easily rub Jon the wrong way, but Tim says it with such fondness that he simply snorts and says, "Damn right I am."
Tim throws his head back and laughs, and Jon grins, forgetting for a moment where they are. This kind of banter is familiar, established after years of being first co-workers and then friends in Research, and it's only when Sasha joins the laughter that Jon remembers it's not just the two of them. He freezes. Tim's eyes go wide. Jon wrenches his eyes away from Tim to look at Martin. The only one at the table who doesn't yet know that Jon is asexual.

Summary
"Martin?" He hears Jon call from the kitchen. The sound echoes in his head, bounces off the walls of his skull and distorts with every collision until it is nothing but static, white noise, white foam clinging to his thighs as he stands in the ocean.
Left the kettle on, Martin realizes somewhat distantly. The shrieking had stopped a while ago, but the hob was likely still on, heating a kettle full of nothing for an empty house. Sometimes, Martin wonders if Jon feels like he lives with a ghost. There's irony somewhere in there, but Martin's too tired, too cold to try to find it.

The patrol yielded, as usual, nothing. Now, Martin has fixed himself the first of the day’s many, many cups of tea and curled up at his desk with the camp bed’s static-tinged blanket draped around his shoulders. He’s nursing a headache and toying with the idea of requisitioning a recorder to read some bits of poetry into—something he’s wanted to try for a while now—when Jon stumbles his way into the Archives.

Jon surprises himself when he reaches out to take the plaster from Martin’s grasp, stilling him with a light touch to the back of his hand. Martin’s eyes are wide when Jon glances up, seemingly as startled as he.
“For god’s sake, Martin,” he mutters in an attempt to save face, cheeks aflame, “let me help.”

“Fine,” Jon says, and he tries to ignore the sulky tone of his voice, “fine. What do you suggest?”
Martin pauses, like he’d not expected Jon to give in so easily. Jon’s never been particularly agreeable, but he still feels vaguely offended by the blatant surprise. “W-we,” Martin stammers, clears his throat, continues on much more confidently, “we go in together.”
Or: it takes close quarters and a full 24 hours to finally get them on the same page.

Summary
Gently, Tim pushes him backward, lays him back against his fluffy down pillow, hovers over him at arm’s length with his fingers still splayed protectively over Martin’s clavicle. Martin hums, confused, makes a vague attempt to push himself up, but Tim doesn’t let him.
“No, it’s okay. Stay there. Just…” And now that Martin’s looking, really looking, he can see the something like pleading in his eyes, the hunger painted over every inch of his face. “Let me take care of you?”
Any thought Martin might’ve had forming in his head screeches to a grinding halt. Martin is not, historically speaking, any good at letting himself be taken care of. It goes against some instinct deep at the core of him.
And yet…
Somehow, Tim’s words immobilize him, gluing him to the spot as he stares, awestruck, up at Tim. He thinks his brain might be about to leak out of his ears. He’s definitely leaking something else somewhere a little further down south.
“O-okay,” he finally manages to stammer, nodding jerkily.
