Her earliest memories, memories that are really memories, with sounds and images and feelings that make sense, were of her Atta.
Her father, the man who raised her, had saved her from freezing in the forests of Doriath when she was but three years old. He was tall, though not as tall as her uncles, and had crinkly red hair that was absolutely delightful to dig her little fingers into.
(She'd clung to him for days after being drawn from the snow, and would scream and sob for him if anyone else tried to take her away. Lost in recollections of other hands -- other people -- taking her away -- away from her nurse -- away from her home -- into the cold, biting snow --)
