This wasn't your first game against the Yellowjackets, nor probably your last. They were considered one of the best in the league, but you were better. More committed. More attentive. You could win this game easily, so why was the cold air managing to nip at your skin? The crowd so loud in your ear? You just need to focus. A harsh elbow in your side brings you back to reality; a teammate tells you to respond to her already. A furrowed brow as you look over at the other team. They're mostly focused on themselves, except for Shauna, who breaks formation. Leaning forward and awaiting a response. You haven't seen her in a while, at least not in person. "Finally," she yells, "I wanted to wish you and your team good luck," She insists, with a wide smile. She's never this nice. It has to be a trick. "You're gonna need it." And there it is. A roll of your eyes as you turn back. You won't allow her to get a rise out of you. It's not worth it.
