    Wei Wuxian couldn’t quite tell if it was energy or matter, but either way it was dark and solid and quite firmly keeping him from walking away.

    “You have entered my domain of your own free will,” the voice said.

    “Well, yes, but I thought it was just a cave. Like, a public cave, not a private one,” Wei Wuxian pointed out.

    It’s after midnight, the moon is hanging pretty in the star-studded sky, and Bucky is sitting on the fire escape outside the apartment he recently started sharing with Sam. The air is chilly, the perfect temperature for a fall night in D.C. He contemplates spending the night out here with the blanket being the stars above him and the mattress the metal bars of the fire escape. It reminds him of his time stalking his targets and perhaps it should make him uncomfortable-- god knows he hates being reminded of that time-- but it gives him a sense of familiarity, of normalcy despite how far from normal it really is. It allows him to sit back and just focus on the elements of his surroundings rather than the thoughts in his head. And right now, he really needs that release from his thoughts.

    “Are you two drunk?” he asks, and Sam laughs, blushes enough to confirm it. Bucky gasps, just a little, and Steve narrows his eyes a little more. “Are you fucking?” Bucky giggles, something that turns into a breathy sigh halfway through, and god, they are, they're drunk and fucking and Steve was at work, it's not fair, they are the worst.

    “It was Sam's idea,” Bucky tells him, and Sam brings his hand up from under the covers, smacks him lightly in the shoulder.

    “The fort was my idea. Drinking and fucking, that was all you, Barnes.”

    There are some mistakes that could be made by anybody. Anybody. Bucky taught high school pretty much his whole life, and that was fine, those were kids, and he knew all of them anyway, which meant there was very little chance of him accidentally fucking any of his students during an impulsive post-marital-breakdown Grindr hook-up. Which is exactly what he had done with Steve.
