Severus Snape didn't want to live. He never really had. He dedicated his life to redeeming his sins and when he believed he had done so, he was ready to die. He had nothing left, he always knew he wouldn't come out alive from the war. But he did, and now he has to deal with the shame of having confided his biggest secrets to Potter, of being considered a hero when he just wants to set himself on fire, and of having a whole life ahead of him that he didn't want or plan. The only thing he can do is retreat to the place he detests the most, where no one can bother him: the horrible house of his childhood. There he thinks he will continue to live, but at least he will be alone.
Or so he thought, until the day he saw you standing in front of his door.
