Summary
That spring Steve hears a lot about what’s big in algebraic topology from Mary as she talks a mile a minute in the car passenger seat, across the dinner table, under worn-out beach umbrellas or climbing up him like he’s still her favorite jungle gym though she’s almost too big now. What he gathers mostly is that, in order to classify shapes, mathematicians spend a lot of time trying to distinguish between differences that matter and those that don’t.
And isn’t that the trick in life, thinks Steve: figuring out what matters.
(Doesn’t help in explaining Bucky, though, but he’s not sure what would.)

What if, after the Endgame battle, Dr. Strange used the time stone to save Tony and undo 80 years of Hydra for Bucky? In other words, 1945 Bucky ends up in 2023 and has to come to terms with...a lot.
This story focuses heavily on plot, relationship, and character development (translation: this is not the smut you're looking for....well, at least 70% of you, anyway). :)

He gets a good look at him now–the blonde of his hair and the way it’s cut short and well-kempt. The back is even and straight, like he’s got a woman himself to maintain it. His face, however, bears a flattering stubble lining the concave of his cheeks and bones. His mouth is surrounded by small hairs, his nose strong, and most of all, his eyes. They’re electric blue, certainly not from around here. He looks like one of those German settlers who’d come and ransacked his own home. Still, he holds that impenetrable gaze, knowing his own blue to be much less remarkable. The hand remains stubbornly outstretched, his lips forming a soft, pink line. His eyes flicker downward to notice them, and upward back at the newly, truly, pissed off looking baby blues. He can’t help smiling.
