“I didn’t hit him,” he said with a wry laugh. Sisko paused, initially unsure of what Bashir was trying to say, wondering if he’d misheard.
Suddenly, the words hit like a freight train.
“It was a simple misunderstanding over his attempt to coax a young Ensign to his quarters against her will. But… Don't hit one of them, Doctor. I'm not nearly as understanding as Curzon was.”

Carter had been standing in the corner of the OR, wringing his gloved hands for no more than ten minutes when he felt it—that telltale shift.
No, no, no, not now, oh god, not now.
It's been so long since he last had a period that he'd ignored all the warning signs. He attributed his roiling stomach to nerves, his headache to the exhaustion of med school, his mood swings to the high-pressure environment of County.
But after shifting his weight one too many times, he felt a warm slickness pooling in his underwear. Undeniable.

Carter will be fine, because Carter is stubborn, and surprisingly sturdy, and the kind of guy who will willingly get his arm broken just to defend a little girl from her abusive dad. He hadn't cared to wait for security to step in. He'd jumped in between the man and the hospital bed, arms raised not in violence but in defence, and for his troubles he'd been thrown against the wall.
Idiot. Ridiculous, gentle, incredible idiot.
OR
Carter breaks an arm in a patient altercation and has to have surgery. Benton (and Keaton) are there in the aftermath.
