“I still wonder what brought a hunter as inexperienced as you to commit suicide in my mountains.” His eyes gleamed with amusement.
Then her expression changed to mild surprise.
Why was she there? That mission had been sent to the two boys from the butterfly mansion, Tanjirou and Zenitsu but something deep inside her when she heard the crow with the message moved to the mountain, Aoi had never worked in the field since the Final Selection so that explained her “inexperience”, she knew she was on her way to death the moment she entered the dense forest of the mountain, but even so, she continued with firm steps through the wet earth of the place. It was as if she was meant to be there.
“I don't know” Kanzaki seemed bothered by something “And why didn't you kill me when I entered your territory Inosuke-san?”

Summary
Sometime during Meliodas's 3000 years of life, he was sentenced to execution. He was also, however, allowed to choose the manner of his execution, and he chose an honorable duel to the death against the local king's knights. He was granted his wish and armed with a wooden sword.
That was twenty-four hours ago, and Meliodas is starting to get the impression they're running out of knights. Even the Holy ones.

This was inspired by @writing-prompt-s on Tumblr, and encouraged by @librathefangirl. It's my first fic for both the fandom and the pairing, so I hope I did it justice! (I think it's also my first fic that's entirely about canon characters and not OCs, lol.)

Summary
It's crazy, all this, concludes Meliodas. That even after having ruined so many things not only with his little brother, but with the world and all the clans, he has been given another chance to redeem himself and earn the forgiveness of so many affected by his crimes. It's complete insanity that was only imagined in his wildest fantasies.
Or: Meliodas and Zeldris stood on what's left of the final battle against their father.
