Regulus knows the bigger picture, knows he was always meant to drown alone, unloved, unknown, torn apart deep in a cave in the middle of nowhere yet his heart never stops beating with that foolish hope. Hope that Regulus can know peace, know love, know quiet without death, know the people he holds closest to his heart without setting off metaphorical curses.
Though having Seen the future, he can't pretend he deserves it. He's placed in Slytherin because he's never been brave enough to defy the path Magic has shown him.
