It felt like one, Ochako thought. She didn’t say it, and for one terrifying moment, she feared Himiko might vanish if she blinked. The mist, the lamplight cradling them on the platform, the sweetness of Himiko’s perfume, felt like a spell. The glimmer of a spider’s web just before it broke.
Ochako clenched her jaw, not trusting herself to speak.

“Maybe,” Shouto admitted, “but it brought me here.”
Katsuki snorted. “Fuckin’ sap.” Shouto laughed, bright and clear. Katsuki studied him out of the corner of his eye.
“You gonna keep hiding out here?”
Shouto finally looked down at him, the lights scattering across his face, and Katsuki’s breath caught for the second time that night. It would be so easy, he thought, to lean in. Shouto moved closer.
“Only if you keep hiding with me.”

Izuku's gaze turned skeptical. "You've been on edge since I showed up, Kacchan. It's okay, I understand. Having me as your responsibility is bad enough, but having a random omega hanging off your arm must have put a damper on your day."
"You're not a random omega!" Katsuki protested. He sounded agitated, shifting his stance uncomfortably. He dropped his gaze to his feet and raked his hand through his hair. "Fuck, I'm messing this up," he muttered. Izuku's nostrils flared as the scent of distress reached him—small but startlingly present.
He whined, shuffling closer to the alpha. He hadn't meant to upset him even more. "Kacchan?"
"I'm...I'm bad at this shit, Deku."

It's been years since Izuku has been to the festival—but this year, his mother insists. Even though he's going there to work, he hopes beyond reason that he'll get to see Kacchan again.
