They've done this song and dance a million times before but Clark will never stop asking. Will never stop worrying. Bruce lets out a heavy sigh. "No."
“Did you sleep at all while I was gone?"
Bruce sucks in a deep breath before replying. Something he does when he's embarrassed or ashamed of what he's about to admit. "A bit. Kept waking up in pain. Unable to fall asleep again afterwards."
OR Bruce deals with chronic pain and fatigue and Clark knows just how to take care of him.

Bruce slowly opens the door to his bedroom, and a heaviness enters with him. The air curdling in thick waves of emotion, leaving it feeling dense enough to cut through. His expression is neutral (painstakingly so), but when he makes eye contact with Clark something breaks in him. His face falls and he can't hold his emotions down anymore. He can't hold anything back when it comes to Clark.
Clark makes his way over to him, gently cupping his face in his hands. "Oh honey…"
OR Bruce has had a very long day and Clark discovers Bruce is very pretty when he cries.

The first time it happened Clark hadn't thought anything of it. Him and Bruce both had the night off and were making up for lost time. Clark had noticed Bruce had been fiddling with something in his pocket beforehand but was quickly distracted from that thought by lips crashing into his.
And suddenly he was pushing Bruce up against the wall and lifting him up by the thighs, feeling him wrap his legs around his waist. Bruce smiled into the kiss, clearly satisfied with where this was heading. That's when it happened. That small sound that Clark would soon become obsessed with.
