Summary
Eddie’s life is fine, until a stranger asks him what he wants from it and he realises he hasn’t let himself answer that question in years. So he starts looking for what he’s been missing.
Buck notices. He finds a safe place in an old astronomy tower, and a kind of hope and confusion he doesn’t know what to do with. Neither of them is ready for how much they want to be part of each other’s lives again.
But the universe is patient. It gives them endless sunsets, clear nights, meteor showers, and Eddie learns that sometimes the truth has been on its way to you for a long time.

Summary
Buck accidentally serves Eddie with divorce papers.
Eddie was standing in the living room, phone clenched in his hand. He didn’t yell. Not yet. He held the phone up, screen glowing, and said very clearly, “Why am I getting divorce papers?”
Buck froze. His smile vanished, eyes widening as recognition hit all at once. His brain scrambled, pieces clicking together too late. “Oh,” Buck said. “It really was that easy?”
Eddie’s jaw tightened.
Buck took a step forward automatically, hands lifting like he could calm this with his body alone. “Okay, so, hear me out—”

Summary
It started as an outlet, at first. A way to let out his anger in a controlled manner, with a willing opponent who would offer him the pain that he deserved.
He felt itchy. Teen pregnancy in a Catholic household had cloaked him with such a thick layer of shame that he needed a way to forget.
It was a good thing, he tells himself.
It was an honest thing - born out of good intentions.
Until it wasn't.

Summary
Buck is rambling something about Chimney, Maddie and his parents. Eddie is not really listening, he wants to, he really does, but instead his attention goes to one of the videos in his gallery. The little miniature shows something he can't believe it's true.
Once he clicks on the video, he’s sure it's exactly what it seemed like in the preview. Buck is on his lap pouring tequila on his mouth. He looks so comfortable, like he belongs there. Eddie looks like he's having the time of his life, watching Buck's movements like he's in some sort of trance. His hands are on the blonde's waist, steading him — until they're no longer there for that purpose.
As Eddie’s hands travel lower down the blonde's body in the video, memories of a naked Buck beneath him start flooding his mind. He can feel the warmth of Buck’s body against his own, his lips begin to tingle. His hand travels to his neck checking if he actually has a hickey there — he presses into the skin beneath his jaw. It feels tender and bruised. . His heart starts racing. It can't be, can it? He's imagining things, of course. Buck is bi, but he wouldn't even so much as flirt with Eddie. Even more, Eddie wouldn't flirt back, right?

Summary
And all of that was why, on their seventeenth day on Mars, Buck had shoved Eddie out of the way during the emergency evacuation, knowing it meant his own death instead of Eddie’s. Buck trusted Eddie to help get everyone else home, and Eddie had someone to go home for. Someone who needed him and loved him. Someone who Buck loved, even without ever meeting. He wasn’t going to let Chris grow up without a father. So in the split second he had to think after seeing the communications dish flying at them through the storm that was chasing them off the planet fourteen days early, he’d pushed Eddie out of the way, hoping like hell it would be enough and knowing he wouldn’t live long enough to find out.

Or, take the basic plot of The Martian and stick the 911 characters in there, slap on a lot more angst and pining, and wrap it all up with plenty of recovery cuddling. | Fic is complete at ~120k words and posting 2-3x a week as I edit.
