Lately, Tommy had been more occupied with business than usual. It felt like you’d hardly spent any proper time with him in the last few weeks. He was either out of town doing god knows what, or he spent an hour or two with you in bed. He never woke you when he came in late. You only knew when he had been there when you rolled over to find his side of the bed mussed, with a couple of cigarette butts in the ashtray.
