Summary
A world in which Harry grows up with Petunia, juggling being Harry's caregiver and Dudley's mother. Harry's magic is growing, and Petunia is doing everything she can to foster it despite her aversions and fears. She knows something that Harry does not. Harry grows in the magical world, or at least halfway. He goes to school, attends religious services with Petunia, and goes to the house of a man who does not tell Harry his name. It's there where Harry can be a wizard, and as his magic grows, so do the dangers in his life.
Harry Evans-Potter will enter face against a prophecy that will shake his world, and Petunia Evans will ensure that Lily's son will survive it. As Harry looked forward to the day he receives his letter to Hogwarts, Petunia works in the background to prepare Harry for the dangerous wizard world.

Ilya takes a step closer. “You would totally hate that, so why ask for it?”
All of a sudden, Shane’s defensive posture deflates. He makes himself small under Ilya’s hard gaze. His frown disappears, and his elegant cheeks flush a deep shade of red. He avoids Ilya’s eyes like the plague, and his throat visibly struggles to swallow.
It lasts five seconds before Shane tries to pull himself together, but it’s too late. Ilya catches it immediately, and his annoyance vanishes.
Realization hits him like a motherfucking truck in the middle of the road.
“Oh my god, Hollander.” Ilya’s voice is flirty and teasing. He tries not to smirk like a Cheshire cat, but he can’t help it. His cheeks hurt from the enormous, unapologetic smile. “You would totally love it. Right?”

Shane is cut off by a hand on his mouth. He flushes.
“Too fast,” Ilya says. “My English… not good.”
“Sorry,” Shane mumbles into Ilya’s hand. Ilya grins and shakes his head, curls dancing, as he pulls his hand away.
“Is okay. Slow words. Okay?”
This year marks thirteen year Shane Hollander's third summer at Coach Marakov's elite hockey training camp. In attendance for the first time: Ilya Rozanov, visiting from Russia. Shane isn't the most sociable, and Ilya's English isn't the greatest, yet the unlikely duo soon become the best of friends.
It's just one summer, but it makes a world of difference.

Summary
Shane wouldn't be so pissed if it was a one time occurrence but somehow it was a common theme throughout his whole life. Just because he was Japanese-Canadian people always seemed to have formed an opinion before he even opened his mouth.
He was either too Asian for the people here or too white for Japan, which only fueled his determination to prove his place in this world.
He was about to show them that he not only got the potential but that he was indeed the best when it came to hockey, which shouldn't be too hard as hockey was all he had in his life.
If only there wasn't Ilya Rozanov who would cross his plans.
